What is happening? Talk through what is going on out loud – En posn with an MG. Isolate what’s important and what’s not
Q1 What is the Enemy doing, with what and why? (GROUND & EF) A simple assessment of the En CoA may ID what’s not evident – potential depth, a come on, a show of force. Ground: To assess use OCOKA (Obstacles, Cover and Concealment, Observation/fields of fire, Key terrain, Avenues of approach and withdrawal). EF capability: Use SWATTI (Strength, Weapons, Arcs, Tactics, Type of Position, Intent.)

Q5 What resources do I need for each effect? (TROOPS TO TASK) Who is best placed or equipped to do it? Do I have the organic systems to carry out the task or do I need support? Think it through
Q6 When and where do the actions take place in relation to each other? Create a timeline. WngO to Msn complete, related to organic weapons, personnel and any fire sp plan
Q7 What are the control measures? Visualise your plan to identify where things are going to go wrong (Risk). Use of Reference points or Fire Sp Co-ord measures (FSCM) is crucial. Are any civvies about?
